1957 Dale Engineering Burp Gun (Cops and Robbers/Crooks Saloon)

Description: Burp Gun (aja Cops & Robbers or Crooks Saloon), Dale Engineering, 7/57. Also made as Desert Hunter. Apparently there are two versions: 6 and 10 windows (with the ten window version being more desirable - frankly the 6 window version is far more common with the 10 window version probably discontinued early in production.) The 30" cylinder that mounts between the backbox and the gun stand is often missing. Game is 240 shots with targets appearing every 2 2/5 seconds. Unfortunately the number of shots is not shown to the player. Each "robber" appears in a window, one at a time, and the "cop" (the player) must shoot the villian. The gun has recoil, which helps knock the player off target, adding to the challenge. Score is kept on a stepper unit which shows as a sort of time clock. Hits ring a bell and light large light bulbs behind the backbox glass. Comical window scenes are shown through the glass.
