Williams Pay Phone 5000

Description: Pay Phone 5000, Williams, 1985, a pay phone system sold by a pinball company. When telephone was deregulated in 1984, many companies got into selling payphones. Prior to this, only Ma Bell could and operate own a payphone, and they would collect all the payphone's money, and perhaps credit the location's phone bill $4 per month. But in 1984 anyone could own a payphone, and schedule long distance through any phone company they wanted, and keep all the money from the phone. Unfortunately competition was fierce, and many payphone vendors (including Williams) got out of selling payphone by 1986.
