1977 Gottlieb Cleopatra Pinball (4 player)

Description: Gottlieb Cleopatra pinball, the 4 player version of Gottlieb Pyramid pinball. Same game, just different number of players (4 players versus 2 players). Two 3" flippers, three pop bumpers, two kickout holes, one 5 target drop target bank. Gottlieb sold this game design in the two flavors, though they are essentially the exact same game (with slight artwork differences). The 2 player version (Pyramid) had a lower price than the 4 player (Cleopatra), and was marketed to game operators with less money to spend. Cleopatra was made in both EM and SS (solidstate) versions. They made 1600 Gottlieb EM Cleopatra pinballs, and 410 Gottlieb Pyramid EM pinball machines.

Gottlieb Pyramid and Cleopatra have an interesting rule set. The key to the game are the colored rollovers and colored drop targets. (Note the high point red bonus does not have a side lane rollover.) For example, getting the blue rollover (across the top or side lanes) lights one blue bonus lamp inserts. Getting the blue drop target lights the other bonus lamp insert. At the end of the ball the game scans the bonus ladder, and awards points based on the lit lamp inserts. But the player must have both the rollover light and the drop target light on to get a bonus for that color. Also if the rollovers are scored first, the values for the drop targets increases. And if both kickout holes are scored, double bonus is lit (each of the kick out holes lights one half of the double bonus light.) The kickout holes also light up the star lane rollvers for higher point values. If all the drop targets are hit (they don't reset) and all the rollovers are hit, the side targets light up for extra ball or special. Note these are similar to Gottlieb Royal Flush and Card Whiz, but of course without the cards.
