1977 Gottlieb Fire Queen Pinball (2 player)

Description: Gottlieb Fire Queen pinball, which is the 2 player version of Gottlieb Vulcan pinball. Same game, just different number of players (4 players versus 2 players). Gottlieb sold this game design in the two flavors, though they are essentially the exact same game (with artwork differences). The 2 player version (Fire Queen) had a lower price than the 4 player (Vulcan), and was marketed to game operators with less money to spend.

Two banks of drop targets, one with 5 white targets the other with 4 green targets. Two pop bumpers, two slingshots, two 3" flippers, one kickout hole. Completing the five numbered targets lights the side lanes for special. Also each numbered target has a corresponding left side rollover that changes from 100 to 1000 points. If all white drop targets are downed, bonus 2x is activated, and the white drop targets reset. If the player gets all the green drop targets down, the number "5" standup target on the right lights for extra ball (same player shoots again), and the green drop targets stay down (allowing only one extra ball per ball in play.) Once the player gets the extra ball and drains, all targets reset except for the 1 to 5 numbered targets which do no change. Note the "5" target is adjustable to make it harder or easier to hit for the extra ball. An interesting pinball playfield design.

I like the two player Fire Queen pinball artwork better than Vulcan personally. They made 3575 Gottlieb Vulcan pinballs, and 970 Gottlieb Fire Queen pinball machines.
