1935 O.D. Jennings The Hunter pinball

Description: Hunter, O.D. Jennings, 09/35. This is the non-payout version of Jennings Sportsman pinball. Electro mechanical pinball. The game has a back box which shows the animals scored. Unfortunately The Hunter uses more standard pinball legs (with metal bolt covers), and not the ornate round legs with huge metal castings, as used on the Sportsman. But The Hunter plays much like Sportsman, in that you need to hit the Skill Shot hole before any of the animals will score. The game uses 6v lights and a 6v transformer and selenium rectifier to power 6vdc. Though the transformer is 6v center tap, so it can also supply 12v. But with the selenium rectifier the output is about 5.5vdc.

The score for the animals made are the same as the payout Sportsman (3 for ducks/squirrels, 6 for rabbits, 9 for pheasants and 12 for partridges), except of course these are points (or free games) and not nickels! The Hunter does have five separate mechanical score counters, unlike the Sportsman. These show which animals have been scored. There is a separate light for each scoring hole. So to get say the Rabbits scored, all three Rabbit lights on the backbox must lights, along with the Skill shot light, and the rabbit relay will trip and show the Rabbit as scored.

The Jennings Hunter is a much more rare variant than the Jennings Sportsman. But in contrast, the Sportsman is probably more collectible because it pays out like a slot machine.
